Minister Robert Troy Joins Irish Funds in Athlone for Transition Year Financial Literacy Programme Session
Monday, 24 March 2025
Irish Funds returned to the classroom for the final session of the TY Financial Literacy Programme at Coláiste Chiarain Athlone, Roscommon. We were delighted to have Robert Troy, TD, Minister of State at the Department of Finance Ireland join us to see the programme in action and present students with their certificates and pins.
The session focused on:
The importance of soft skills and effective communication.
Diversifying investments and ethical considerations when investing, including reviewing their FT Portfolios.
Frauds and scams, highlighted during Global Money Week.
Exploring career pathways in the funds and asset management industry.
Improving financial literacy is not just important, it’s essential. It empowers individuals to achieve greater security, control, and confidence in managing their money and savings.
The Irish Funds TY Financial Literacy Programme supports the recently launched National Financial Literacy Strategy. We are proud to have actively engaged in shaping the strategy, collaborating with stakeholders from government, business, educational institutions, and other sectors. So far, this academic year, the programme has reached over five hundred students in nineteen schools across thirteen counties.
A huge thank you to the Transition Year students, their teacher Deirdre Doyle, Principal Brendan Waldron, dedicated industry volunteers Ciara Summers, Alan Cuddihy, and our financial literacy programme sponsor Deloitte, and also to our Irish Funds team on the ground, Natasha Haugh and Claudia Moran.
Our CEO Pat Lardner was interviewed by Midlands 103 about the Irish Funds TY Financial Literacy Programme.
