Irish Funds Financial Literacy Programme and Lunch and Learn in Letterkenny, Donegal

Irish Funds was in the northwest of Ireland for a packed and engaging visit to Letterkenny, Donegal today hosted by PGIM. Bringing together business leaders, educators, political leaders, and industry volunteers, the visit reinforced the importance of collaboration in driving regional development and expanding financial literacy initiatives and the significant role the funds and asset management industry plays across the country.

With 46% of funds and asset management professionals now based outside Dublin, it was fantastic to showcase the engagement and enthusiasm from students, professionals, and policymakers alike.

Our day began with active and fun financial literacy sessions for students at St. Eunan’s College and Loreto Convent Secondary School Letterkenny. The Irish Funds TY Financial Literacy Programme supports the recently launched National Financial Literacy Strategy and we are pleased to have been actively engaged in shaping the strategy.

Irish Funds CEO Pat Lardner also joined Greg Hughes at Highland Radio Donegal for an interview on all things funds and asset management - the importance of financial literacy, growing talent, auto enrolment pensions scheme, returns vs risk, attracting investment into Ireland, and the increasing competitiveness in the global landscape.

We then gathered at PGIM for a Lunch & Learn session, where industry leaders and local representatives explored opportunities for collaboration, including potential initiatives around a RegTech hub.A tour of PGIM’s impressive Innovation Hub followed, providing further insights into the evolving landscape of financial services and technology.

A special thank you to our facilitator Eibhlin Johnston and industry volunteers at our Irish Funds TY Financial Literacy programmes Charlene Kennedy, Enda Dooley, Conor Gillespie and ongoing support from our financial literacy programme sponsor Deloitte. A huge thanks to PGIM for hosting and organising the day Charlene Kennedy, Aisling McDevitt CPA, ACA, Mary Doherty and the Irish Funds team—Jennifer Reilly, Paula Morley, Karen Gildea, Anna Fenston, Pat Lardner, and everyone who made the day a success.
