Friday, 12 April 2024
Irish Funds was pleased to participate in the inaugural Ireland's Women in Finance Charter: building a community of best practice event hosted by Financial Services Ireland (FSI) yesterday.
The session commenced with a fireside chat featuring key industry leaders who unanimously emphasised the significance of buy in from senior leadership in driving female participation in the workplace.
The fireside chat was followed by a thought provoking round table discussion that delved into effective strategies exploring what has worked well for firms in increasing female representation across organisations as well as the challenges faced in achieving gender balance.
Key takeaways:
Cultures and Policies: Having the right organisational culture and policies in place is essential for creating an inclusive environment.
Top-Down Tone Setting: Senior leadership must set the tone by championing diversity and inclusion.
Flexible Working Arrangements: The importance of hybrid and flexible work arrangements was highlighted.
Protective Leave Policies: These policies, accessible to all genders and levels, play a crucial role.
Female Sponsors and Role Models: Having senior-level female sponsors and role models is vital for inspiring and supporting women.
Recruitment Process: A gender-balanced recruitment process contributes to overall diversity.
The Women in Finance Charter is aiming to improve gender balance at all levels within the financial services sector.
